I love these books. Ok, I know some people want to ban one or two (I shudder at the thought!) because of the way they portray American Indians. My thought: TEACHING MOMENT! Talk to your children about WHY! What was going on in that time in history? Why would Laura's family see the American Indians that way? What is wrong with that way of thinking? Are there groups of people that are treated that way today and if so why?
Still, you cannot take away from the lessons of a farming family that works together and treats each other with love and respect.

This book is about siblings who find magic and their adventures. I cannot explain how wonderful it is. There are other books in this series. Read them-read them read them!!!

One of my most favorite books growing up. My mother's too. She tried to name us girls accordingly. She starting with Joan (who could have been Jo), then had a Beth, was thrown by a Timothy, got a little off track and named the next girl Kate. She threatened to name me AMY when I arrived 11 years later but I was saved by THAT horrible fate by my siblings. I am NOTHING like Amy. Although if you ask my sisters and brother about that you may get a lot of eye rolling and snickering. Ignore them.
